OLD BUILDINGS & ARCHITECTURE

This section contains sketches of old buildings, some close to 200 years old in Australia and others European and much older. The artist spends time overseas regularly in both Asia and Europe sketching the environment and old buildings. Included here are drawing series completed mostly in 1983 whilst staying in the beautiful ancient Alhambra (Granada, Spain) for three weeks, in San Gimignano (Tuscany, Italy) for two weeks, and in different parts of France over many years. He is fascinated with the connection between history, the psychological development of man and the consequential development of philosophy, including the impact of ancestral thinking on Australia's relatively young society. They are available as limited edition mixed media on canvas rather than paper as originally sketched (Paper becomes fragile with age and cannot be hung without glass, not being as robust as canvas).
