BLACK & WHITE (ink on canvas and pencil)

The subject matter of these drawings again draws heavily on nature, but swings back and forth between sensitive realistic interpretations of nature to ‘Evolutionist’ interpretations that blend psychological symbolism, human forms and natural fauna, all emphasising that we are part of the same natural continuum. Many of the drawings evolve into elegant continuous lines weaving themselves into sensuous evocative shapes related to the "Fashion & Vanity" series (see above). Most of the drawings are ink on canvas and many are large and complex in form and subject matter.

Some of the working drawings (including live model and on site sketches) are converted to larger mixed media works on canvas, making them less prone to damage; also increasing the sketch size and impact as an original, and to allow the finished work to be displayed without needing to be framed behind glass.
